October 17th is The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

09-21-12

Since 1993, October 17th has been designated by the United Nations as a day of reflection on poverty worldwide in order to promote awareness and seek solutions for its eradication. It is known as The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty and this year Dignity for All will be partnering with the federal All-Party Anti-Poverty Caucus (APC) to mark the occasion.

The campaign will be asking all parliamentarians to put on an "End Poverty/Éliminer la pauvreté" button for the day and attend an evening panel discussion on poverty with the APC and persons with lived experiences of poverty titled, "Ending Poverty Together: Real stories, Real Solutions". The event will be held from 7 – 8:30pm in Ottawa; location TBD.
