Librarian at Lincoln would like to see mentoring program grow and flourish

Goals for new Lincoln Elementary School librarian Schaun Aker are focused on growing the mentoring program. The mentoring program was established to help students foster a love of reading, and pairs a child with an adult to read before school once a week.

Currently the mentoring program has 15 volunteers and is growing every week. Aker's other goal for this year is to expand the library, "as much as the walls will let us."

Aker has worked as a paraprofessional in special education for 15 years, and a media assistant for eight years during her time in Indiana. This year she will be the librarian for Lincoln and also provide tutoring for the Response to Intervention (RTI) program.
